Journal entry from a 65-year-old man in Heden

Another lovely day at home for me I have been sick lately and unable to work but I have been able to get out to get some fresh air a few times. I slept as late as I could and woke up around 10 feeling a little better than I have been. My daughter left breakfast for me before she had left for work, which was very nice. I ate with Johnny who has been assigned to look over me while I am sick and Ben, my neighbor. After breakfast we watched some television for an hour or so, which was much more than usual but it was nice. We spent most of the in conversation talking about our families and our lives and many other things. They didn’t leave until my daughter and her husband showed up with my grandson. Conversations then continued throughout dinner and after. They then took me outside for a short 5-minute walk and then we sat on the porch. It was not much later that I felt I should go get ready for the night. I felt healthier all day than I have felt lately. I look forward to going back to work soon.

Journal entry from a 30-year-old man in Heden

Today was really pretty average for me. I woke up around the usual 9 in the morning and cleaned up and went downstairs to find breakfast already on the table. This was a pleasant surprised. Shela, my wife will often surprise me with a ready meal but I never know when it will be. I ate with my family and left for work. I am one of the 10 members of the governing council and when I arrived to the government building I parked in my usual spot and went inside. Everyone was bright eyed and bushy tailed and on time as usual. We all sat down together, some with coffee, and we discussed the usual issues. We looked at some proposed laws and rules and a case of someone who had tried to perform his work alone. We talked about him and his values and questioned whether this is really the place for him or not. But no decisions will be made until we can speak to him in person. We also looked over some files from people who are asking to join Heden. So far they all seem to fit the bill. After work I came home and cooked up some dinner for the family. It had been a pretty relaxed day as usual. After dinner I brought my wife out to dance. We just returned home a half hour ago and got in bed.

Journal entry from a 16-year-old boy in Heden

Today was a very normal day in Heden for me. The day consisted of school and the night consisted of partying. My alarm went off at 7:30 and the sun was flooding into my room. I looked out the window to look at the beach. There were a few people out for an early morning walk. I showered and went downstairs. I had slept well, and just like mostly everyone else was happy to be up and alive. I enjoyed every bight of my cereal and every sip of my orange juice to the fullest and then went and packed up my books for school. I got to school about 10 minutes late, around 9:40. I hung out with everyone else in school until classes started at 10:30. I went from class to class. Everything was very average and enjoyable. I learned about Buddhist beliefs and some algebra and some chemistry. Lunch was chicken burgers, which is my favorite lunch. When school got out at 3:00 I went straight home for starters. I was hungry so I grabbed a delicious mango that I took my time fixing up and enjoying. I then went down the street to my friend Cara’s house and there were 5 of my other friends there. A few were smoking; everyone was engaged deep in conversation, with some relaxing music playing in the background. A few other kids showed up to join our little get together. The conversation was somewhat emotional and a few people found them selves crying, in the arms of others. Eventually everyone left content and tired. I was one of the last to leave and got home around 11 and got ready for bed. Here I am now writing in bed as I do every night. Good night.
